Zhores Ivanovich Alferov — Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice President of the RAS (1991–2017), Rector of the Academic University of the RAS, laureate of the Lenin and USSR State Prizes, recipient of numerous domestic and foreign awards.
In 1998, Zh.I. Alferov was elected Honorary Doctor of SPbGUP. His sculptural portrait is installed on the University's Alley of Fame. The academician's speeches to students and articles about him have been repeatedly published by the university.
